Why do hot dogs and sausages list the ingredients as beef, beef lips or beef, beef hearts?

Beef is beef no matter what part it comes from so why list it seperate? Why do hot dogs and sausages list the ingredients as beef, beef lips or beef, beef hearts?
Not according to the food %26amp; drug adminstration (FDA) or the Agirculture Department :)

They're only allowed to call certain parts of a cow ';beef,'; those are the muscular parts defined by certain cuts. Any other part -- lips, hearts, intestines (tripe), etc. have to be identified specifically.

And aren't you glad they have those regulations? Otherwise companies could throw any old part of a cow in a hot dog and call it ';beef'; with no further explanation. This way you know what parts are being used. Why do hot dogs and sausages list the ingredients as beef, beef lips or beef, beef hearts?
The beef that we usually eat is muscle. Lips and hearts are not, so it bears mentioning. Some people do not eat organ meat such as liver or hearts.
Because a lot of people wouldn't want to eat lips, or heart. They will eat what is considered ';normal'; beef parts, but are grossed out at the organs or lips. So the government makes it a requirement to list those kinds of things. Also some religions do not allow certain parts of an animal to be eaten.
Actually, it's the left over beef from the cow. Most people want to know what their eating..
To scare you off.

When you read the word 'beef' in connection with food you generally think of the 'good' kind, what you think of as 'usual', not major organs. So, they manufacturers feel a responsibility to specify further.
FDA (food and drug administration) guidelines. Another way the government tries to control everything
Because the manufacturers are required by laws to list the ingredients.

';Laws are like sausages. It's better not to see them being made.';

- Otto von Bismarck

Hot dogs and sausages were described once to me as ';lips and assholes';. And another term to be wary of is ';mechanically separated meat';.

By the way, the origin of mad cow disease is human stupidity: the left over parts of sheep were ground up and mixed into the food fed to the sheep: forced cannibalism caused it. When it was transmitted from sheep to cows and the same forced cannibalism was done to cows, it got worse.

That's how the meat industry thinks, money before public health, and that's why the obscene leftovers of a cow are used to make hotdogs and sausages.
Yes so true but organs taste different than round steak or liver or heart
because those are different parts, they have to label it or they can get sued or shut down
Get a life loser !!!
left overs have to go somewhere
