What is the essential ingredient in Lip balm?

Most use petroleum jelly (sometimes white, but I'm not sure what the difference is).What is the essential ingredient in Lip balm?

depends on what you're using. in regular lip balm it is petrolum jelly, but in Burt's Bees its beewax.

lips?
Depends on the product, it could be petroleum or it could be beeswax. You'll have to read the ingredients on your brand. There are tons of recipes to make your own lip balm all over the web. It's easy and fun!
petrolatum jelly it is what vascaline is made of, if you mix vascaline with a part of a lip stick you basically get lip blam.
vaseline - petrolatum (petroleum jelly), and bee's wax.

All ingredients need a base ingredient.
Vaseline aka petroleum jelly.
Standardly it is petroleum and water for hydration.
lip stick is made out of fish scale not kidding
lanolin.
